Well, now that my sister has regaled us with tales of the cyber geeks, I can continue on with my story...
I guess I could address the subject of my "boyfriend".
I met Jake in college. He was one of the few who knows who my dad is. He knew even before we officially met because, quite frankly, he's in love with my dad. Yes, Jake is gay. He's also determined to follow in my dad's footsteps.
You're probably wondering why I would hang out with someone I know for sure met me for the sole purpose of meeting my dad. The short answer is because he was upfront about it. He didn't do it in a sneaky way. In addition, I like the guy.
I suppose I could have told dad what the deal was with Jake, but being dad, he jumped to conclusions and assumed Jake and I were dating when they met. To add injury to insult, he was so damn condescending about it ("Aren't they sweet together?"), that I figured I'd just let it be. Mom had it figured out in about two seconds. I told you she has a sixth sense when it
comes to people being in love with dad. She likes him, and likes the idea of pulling one over on my father, so she's never said anything to him, either.
Jake says he's a PoliSci major, but in reality, he's just playing at it to keep his dad happy. Jake wants to go into radio, but his father feels this is impractical and Jake should have something to fall back on. Yeah, like PoliSci is practical. His dad also likes that Jake hangs with me because he figures I can make Jake "like" girls. I don't think he's going to handle it well when he comes up next time and Jake introduces him to his "friend", Randy.
In reality, I'm dating a guy named Brian. So far he's only met mom. I don't think he's ready to meet dad and Laura. Laura will probably hack into the school's computer to see what kind of grades he gets and post them on the school website. I wouldn't put it past her. Periodically, she gets into my computer and plays with the files. I've learned to protect my files better, but nothing can keep Laura out if she's determined to get in somewhere. I always suspected there was more to that FBI story than she was willing to admit. If Laura was involved in that hacking, you can bet not even the FBI would be able to trace it back to her. Personally, I think the government should hire her as soon as possible. If she's working for them, then they know she isn't hacking them.
I need to get back to work. I have finals coming up, and I need to do some actual studying.
Moving around the site...
